Staying Healthy is a Marathon we are all competing in. I know we are all in difference stages in this journey. But I’ll like to share some of the Apps I have used to help me move a bit more efficiently to my goals.
If it isn’t captured, you cannot track your progress. This is an App that allows you to connect Renpho device to track your metrics. Devices like
With the Renpho’s App you can use your Bluetooth connection to monitor your Weight, BMI, Body Fat, and much more. With this you can see how you’ve improved over time.
You can also add other Renpho tools like Treadmill, Jump Rope, Nutrition Scale for measuring your food, Blood Pressure Monitor, and Massage device. Imagine an environment where you can just use all these devices and at the end of the day (or week) see how much calories you burned on the treadmill and jump rope, how much calories you ate and what your current weight is all in one app. Renpho is definitely has the right idea.
This is an App that was recommended by a co-worker. It’s great to get into Weightlifting. One of the problems I struggled with is measuring my reps and sets, and then remembering what I did last time so I can either do the same or build on it. Well with Stronglifts you have an in-built system to track your progress. Here are some of the highlights:
- You get a Warmup round of workouts
That’s right you shouldn’t go lifting barbells with weights immediately on your first set in the gym. Try an empty barbell and increase according. Stronglifts helps with all this)
- Instruction Video of a HUMAN doing the workout
I know doesn’t sound like a big deal, but some Apps have stick figures or simulations for instruction videos
- You get to see how your weights should be assembled
For example, if 140 lbs on each side is the weight to lift on a barbell, it suggests the plate distribution on each side.
No need to figure out what increments I need to add in my next workout. Just sent the increments once and forget about it, it will update automatically before your next work.
I use MyFitnessPal to help me track my calorie intake. This is a great app for this because it has a huge repository of different types of food. Even cultural meals like my Nigerian delicacies.
They even make it easy to input by scanning the bar code of whatever you’re eating. It’s almost hard to have an excuse now.
Because staying in shape is mainly based on your diet, its important to keep track of what your intake is. Also known as monitoring your macros. For example, if you want to build muscle you might want to increase your protein, compared to your other macros. Here is what that might look like in the App
This is another useful App. I think it works best with a Samsung device like a Samsung band — Link or Samsung Watch Link. This is helpful to track your steps, exercises, sleep, heart rate, and much more. In the App you can start a walking challenge with your fellow Samsung Health users where you get to see who can walk the most.
You can also use the Fitness section to get some workout videos, mindfulness sessions, running help and much more.
What’s interesting is that you can also connect the data from your Renpho App into the Samsung Health app. This can be helpful to have a view of your Body Composition in the Samsung Health App which has other details about your general health like Heart rate, Blood Oxygen level, Stress level, Daily Activity etc.
Very similar to MyFitnessPal, it can also record your Food details, but I prefer the MyFitnessPal due to some recent changes the Samsung Health App made. Some of the changes make it not as useful to bring in my Renpho data because in the past I was able to set my Macros in Samsung Health App based on the Weight Management feature. Hope this has been helpful getting an insight into what Apps help me in my fitness Journey. I’m not where I want to be, but I’ve definitely made some improvements and I have these apps to thank for that.
