Police have stepped up patrols in the Parsonage Lane area of Bishop’s Stortford after a woman was followed by a man in a white car who indecently exposed himself to her as she walked home late on Monday night (Mar 21).

The victim had just left work at Birchanger Green Services at junction eight of the M11 and was heading along Parsonage Lane between 10pm and 10.30pm when she noticed a vehicle acting suspiciously.

The driver approached her with the car window down and she saw he was masturbating.

She told the Indie: “I was walking back from work at approximately 10.30pm…A white Nissan Qashqai followed me for a while, I thought this person was lost due to the car activity and the car approached me with the window down, he asked me where Stortford was then I realised he was flashing and masturbating. I walked off and called the police when I got home.

“I’m worried this guy could be a danger because of how he followed me and then turned the car around and stopped.”

A spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said officers were investigating the incident and urged anyone who was in the area or may have seen anything to come forward.

“At around 10pm, a woman was walking along Parsonage Lane when she was asked for directions by a man in a white car. When the woman went to speak to the man she saw that he was sat indecently exposed.

“The offender is described as being of mixed race with black hair. Enquiries are under way and additional patrols are being carried out in the area.”
