If you believe your life is unworthy of living, use this to serve as a reminder of all the reasons Why it is. Much of how we feel about ourselves is based on our beliefs about our lives.

Are our efforts fruitful? Are we deserving? Are we sufficient? Are we desirable and wanted? Are we seen as such? Are we deemed acceptable? We rarely express these questions aloud, yet they nearly always dictate our every behavior and reaction.

A psychologically and emotionally healthy person might become highly unwell if we spend our lives subconsciously in order to conform to some ‘good ideal.’ What we believe is success and worthiness, and what we perceive is pitiful and unworthy… these are all mental constructs and standards.

What we feel defines a ‘happy life’ is determined by what we absorb from society and our environment as children — from our parents’ expectations, from the professional and relationship tales we see and hear, and by comparing ourselves to successful individuals.

While aiming for a better life is admirable, keep in mind that striving for a better life is about achieving a better life, not about reaching the standards of a better life defined by some notion in our heads.

If you are experiencing difficulties and conflict with the world, this does not indicate that your life has become useless. Indeed, it signifies that your life is becoming more meaningful, since even when something is unpleasant, it teaches us something about ourselves and our strengths.

Strength is not about always being fearless or optimistic; it is about showing yourself kindness, compassion, and acceptance even when you are terrified or unhappy.

Permit yourself to experience whatever you feel without judgment. Avoid constantly comparing your life to what you believe is a ‘good life,’ so that you stop seeing your imperfections as weaknesses and instead view them as a part of what it is to be human. Whatever the circumstances, as long as we feel our lives are worthwhile, we can gradually enable ourselves to be cheerful and positive.
