‘Move over Rishi Sunak, here’s a proper deal’.
That’s the claim from bosses at The Secret Garden in Barrow who are offering one kids hotdog or burger with fries for each adult meal ordered over half term.
“We want to get people in. We have had a lot of really good support from day one with The Secret Garden,” said boss Steven Darvill. “It’s a way for us to say thank you, that’s the main thing.”
The promotion will be running from when The Secret Garden opens on Wednesday until Sunday.
It is hoped the offer will draw more people to the eatery while providing relief to families.
Steven said: “You want to do things with your kids over the half term but everything is so expensive.
“It (the offer) helps us because it’s a bit of advertising for us but coupled with the fact that it is helpful for other people as well, it’s a symbiotic kind of thing really to get people in and see the venue.
“There’s still a lot of people who don’t know we’re there.
“It’s a tricky one at the moment because nobody can really afford to do anything.”
Steve said the restaurant was well supported and that the business had ‘grown really well’.
He also promised that the free food would not mean that standards dip.
He said: “We’re certainly going to keep our standards high. We’re not going to give them (the children) something really cheap.
“It will still be the same food that we give them all the time. This is not something we’re going to cut margins on.
“We’re a really kid-friendly environment, but to be fair we get absolutely all ages.
“It’s just a little bit of a treat on a half term.”
The Secret Garden can be found at Unit 54 of the Enterprise Business Park off Ironworks Road in Barrow.
They are open from 11.30am to 8pm Wednesday-Saturday, and from 11.30am to 3pm on Sundays.
