Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic is not convinced a move to Arsenal is for him, according to reports in Italy.

The Gunners are believed to be interested in bringing the Serb, 21, to the Emirates in the next two transfer windows.

Vlahovic is one of the hottest prospects in European football, scoring 20 goals in 23 outings in all competitions this season.

He also has seven goals in 14 senior appearances at international level and won Serie A’s Best Young Player award last term.

Rumours suggest Arsenal are willing to pay Fiorentina €70million – around £58.5m – for Vlahovic’s services. He has 18 months remaining on his existing deal.

But, according to Italian outlet Ansa, the Premier League giants are yet to persuade the talent to swap Tuscany for London.

Money is also thought to be a problem, as Vlahovic’s agents want €18m (£15m) to sanction the deal.

Sky in Italia, meanwhile, claim the €18m will be split between the player and his agents. The striker will receive €8m (£6.7m) as a signing on fee and his representatives will pocket the remaining £10m (£8.3m).

Vlahovic’s team are also allegedly demanding 20 per cent of any future sales, which would have a major impact on his valuation.

Speaking in November, Arsenal director Josh Kroenke insisted the club would be act in the transfer market if an opportunity appeared.

“We’re going to continue to be aggressive and when we see areas where we can improve the club on and off the pitch we’re going to keep doing it,” said Kroenke.

And there’s no doubting Vlahovic is a realistic transfer option. As reported by Sky Sports News, Fiorentina are even willing to sell him in January.

“The manager did not rule out a sale even in January,” said Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone, as quoted by Il BiancoNero. “We are ready to evaluate all the offers but at the moment nothing has arrived.”

Whether Arsenal can afford the staggering numbers being reported – and whether they would be willing to pay it – is another question.

Club legends Paul Merson and Ian Wright have urged the Gunners to splash out on Vlahovic – if they can sell him the Emirates dream.

“They should be breaking the bank to get Dusan Vlahovic in from Fiorentina in the summer – because he would make them title contenders,” Merson told the Daily Star.

“I’ve heard he’s not interested in Arsenal right now and I can understand that. But he might change his mind if they finish in the top four and offer him a lorryload of money.”

Wright, meanwhile, told The Kelly and Wrighty Show: “I believe they do need to get another striker, even if everything can be sorted with [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang.

“I’m hearing Vlahovic from Fiorentina… if we can get that striker, that hard-running striker who is good at the link-up play and is a good finisher – which Vlahovic is – then you’re starting to think it’s starting to happen now for Arsenal.”
