PLANS seeking permission to use a property as a children’s home have been submitted.

The proposals, for a home on The Shires, have been sent to St Helens Council’s planning department.

The application states: “The property is currently a five-bedroomed residential dwelling” and will be operated under Nurtrure Support Services Ltd.

It says “there will be no structural changes” made to the property.

The children in the home will be aged between seven and 16 and and will “generally need the placement due to family breakdown and not because of behavioural problems”.

A supporting statement in the application says: “The only change of use proposed is, the adults will be experienced staff (1-2) + 1-2 children as opposed to parents and 1-2 children.

“The house will function as close to a family unit as possible”.

The plans are on standard consultation to the public until Friday, February 25, with a determination deadline set for March 31.
