It was a move that stunned Hollywood — a town that has, pretty much, seen it all. Last week, Warner Bros cancelled the release of Batgirl with filming completed and nearly $100 million spent so far. Theories abound about Why the studio deemed the picture, starring newcomer Leslie Grace, unsalvageable, but industry sources told The New York Post it was so bad it was “irredeemable”.
Others suggested that the movie, which was shot in Glasgow and was to feature the return of Michael Keaton as Batman, fell foul of the recent $43 billion merger between Warner and Discovery, which led to an overhaul of senior management and a strategy rethink.
