A cat owner had been left “distraught” after her pet was “mauled to death” by a dog in South Oxhey.
Flint, a six-year-old cat, had made his way into another garden when he was brutally attacked by a dog on Saturday, November 13, Daphne Reynolds said.
The 57-year-old, who is from South Oxhey, alerted police to the “horrific” incident after Flint died of his injuries.
Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed it had received a report of the attack and established that no offences were committed.
Mrs Reynolds said Flint was a rescue cat and had got on well with other pets she has, including four rabbits and a dog.

She said: “I am distraught. I’d rather he was run over than mauled to death. It’s just horrific.
“He got on with all the other animals straight away. He was really loving. All I keep thinking about was the way he died.
“That’s the worst thing. They all are part of the family and you treat them as a human being.
“This was such a horrific way to go and should never have happened.”
A spokesperson from Hertfordshire Constabulary said the dog was in its own garden at the time of the attack on Saturday and had not escaped.
They continued: “Officers spoke to the cat’s owner and it was established that no criminal offences had occurred, however advice was provided.”
However, Mrs Reynolds says she wants “some kind of justice” following the incident.
She said: “If this was a child or a person this would be a different story, I want some kind of justice done for our poor cat. Our other cat and our dog are also really missing him.”
She added that the RSPCA has been alerted to the incident.
