A HEROIC greyhound who saved the life of another dog still hasn’t found his forever home.
Five-year-old Uggy, an ex-racing dog, has just spent his 200th day at the shelter.
Uggy became a blood donor this summer when Beech House Vets, on Wilderspool Causeway, needed a healthy dog to help a very poorly canine patient through a life-saving blood transfusion.
Cheshire Dogs’ Home came to the rescue with Uggy.
Vet nurses at the practice fell in love with Uggy’s gentle nature and the transfusion was successful – saving the life of nine-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier Millie, who was having surgery for a pyometra.
Staff and volunteers at Cheshire Dogs’ Home describe Uggy as a giddy boy who loves going on walks and exploring.
He’s been socialized at the Dogs’ Home and enjoys walking with people as well as alongside other greyhounds.
Home manager Anna Stansfield says: “Uggy is a lovely boy as well as a canine hero, and we’re really hoping he’ll find his forever home soon.
“Two hundred days is a long time for any dog to spend in a shelter, and Uggy really needs to be in a loving home where he can start afresh and live out his days in a relaxed environment.”
