Winchester City turned in an impressive performance as four second-half goals sealed a 5-1 home win against ten man, Bristol Manor Farm.

Warren Bentley made his first start for the club since returning from Hungerford Town. Bentley came off the bench at Melksham, but this time earned himself a starting berth.

Pip Nolan made his debut in defence for the hosts, having signed from Wessex League side, AFC Stoneham. Nolan was deputising for the injured Kieran Douglas and Dan Walster continued his spell in the side alongside Nolan, in the absence of Rob Flooks.

Craig Davis’ side started the game well and went ahead through Ollie Griggs’ effort. Griggs left the keeper rooted to the spot with his well taken goal after impressive approach play involving influential forward, Olly Balmer.

It was 1-0 to City at half-time and the excellent 303-strong crowd were already happy with what they had witnessed. Manor Farm came back into the game after the restart and equalised from a set piece.

However, the dynamics of the goal then changed when the visitors were reduced to ten men and City made the extra man advantage show.

Simba Mlambo restored City’s lead as he kept up his excellent recent goalscoring exploits. Craig Feeney replaced Olly Balmer as a substitute, and his impact was virtually instant as he scored City’s third goal, as Simba Mlambo this time turned provider.

Max Smith smashed home City’s fourth goal as he got in the act and a fifth and final goal was scored by Craig Feeney as he wrapped up his brace and completed the goalscoring.

City leapfrogged Bristol Manor Farm and into the play-offs with this fine victory and travel to Bideford next weekend looking to cement their place in the top five.
