Society encourages us to chase what is outside. New cars. New houses. Promotions. Tearing down the system. Building a new one. Solving climate change. This is all before we even have our ruling principles dialed in.
We have whisked away from one desire or virtuous cause to the next. Is it wrong? I wouldn’t necessarily so say. Yet, when it comes to putting in the real work with real solutions is where we find the issues. We want the fast and easy way to succeed or to get praise for our correct stances.
The bottom line, know yourself and your guiding principles first. Know how something flashy fits or doesn’t fit into your life. Don’t fall into the trap of buying a house next to Snoop Dog in the Metaverse because everyone else wants to. (Unless you can sell it for double next year.)
Be the ruler of yourself before you set out to rule the world.
