A highly renowned number of people were unveiled, ahead of the start of 2022, in the New Year honours list .
This included some of Bristol’s very own who were awarded by the British state due to their significant contributions both locally and nationally.
Among those who joined the list this year was founding trustee of Ruskin Mill Trust and Ruskin Mill Land Trust, Aonghus Gordon.

Aonghus was awarded an OBE for his services to cultural heritage and education and has been known for championing biodynamic food ecology for children and students.
His feats included providing Specialist Independent Education to children and adults with complex needs including learning difficulties and disabilities, as well as pushing for arts and social enterprise.
Since its establishment in 1981, Ruskin Mill Trust has become one of the country’s leading educational charities, which consists of twelve centres in total across the United Kingdom.
In Bristol, Grace Garden School was amongst the many institutions that were successfully acquired and restored by the Land Trust.
In June 2021, the school was transformed in partnership with Ruskin Mill Trust, that offers an education to young people between the ages of 9-16 with complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

As a result of his inclusion on the New Year’s Honours List, Aonghus said in a statement:
“I am very grateful for this recognition of the Trust’s exceptional work over the past thirty years.
“Our team at Ruskin Mill has worked tirelessly through the most challenging of circumstances, and their dedication to the young people in our care and each other has been unparalleled.
“They go above and beyond every single day to support our communities, and I could not be prouder of them.
“I began life as a potter, building a small project in Gloucestershire for children with complex educational needs.
“I wouldn’t have been able to imagine the incredible progress we’ve made since then in my wildest dreams: we now have twelve centres across the UK and over 600 acres of farmland, woods and gardens, all looked after using biodynamic principles.
“I am truly humbled by this honour, and look forward to continuing our work educating exceptional young people.”
