As depressing as that might sound, I made this roadmap to guide newbies to flexible create some income streams.
About this guide.
This is a beginner friendly roadmap to financial freedom, you will create at least 6 income streams from this tutorial.
Highlights:-
1. Beginner Friendly
2. Create at least 6 Income streams
3. Doable for Nigerians
4. Not a very easy method.
Four Steps to Financial Freedom.
1. Find a Skill.
2. Create a Platform.
3. Start Promotions.
4. Scale & Reinvest.
1. Find a Skill.
Finding a skill is very challenging, it involves a lot of research and critical thinking, some knowledge of the markets is even essential to thrive.
In order to find a skill make sure it ticks on all the following parameters:
a. Solves a problem.
b. Other’s are successful in it.
c. Something you’re passionate about.
d. You can find products around it.
e. You can create products around it.
It takes time and patience to master a skill and while you learn you can still make money from that skill by reselling services provided by others from Fiverr or Upwork while building audience and authority.
In most cases, you may not have to learn a new skill, just perfect the one you have and position it as we are about to get into and start making money.
I must say please avoid easy methods and invest money if you have some capital because, though everything here will not cost you a more than say $50 at most, you can scale faster if you have more money to start.
2. Create a Platform.
Once your skills is set you will have to make it visible and stand out, majority have skills but without a platform its basically useless.
Here are the platforms you will need:
a. Freelance Page,
b. Product Page,
c. Blog,
d. Youtube Channel,
e. Online Store,
f. Social Media Presence.
a. Freelance Page
First create a social and professional profile on LinkedIn, add a bit of information about yourself and let people be able to see a professional you they can trust and do business with. you can checkout some profiles of your competitors and model them, don’t spend too much time here.
b. Product Page
Build your website and elaborate on your services and products you have to offer. Host it on GitHub for a free domain name and hosting.
If you have some startup capital you can always hire a freelance developer to build it for you.
c. Blog
Create a free blog on blogger, or medium, customize and connect your AdSense. I choose blogger because it’s the easiest for me, however you are free to explore the options you have such as WordPress.
Now would be a great time to write something educative about your services and put it online on your blog.
d. Youtube Channel
Video content is the most consumed today and easiest to make, find a good background and make some tutorial videos in your niche showing people how to maybe use your products, teach them something valuable, may be a 5 minute or 4 hours long video, it doesn’t matter, just be authentic, make sure you showcase your products and how you can help them so your audience can do business with you.
Have you ever noticed that most tutors asking you to create a faceless channel have their faces there?
If you’re scared of putting your face out there find someone to, but it will just be easier, faster and cheaper with your face on it.
Whiteboard videos takes time to create and edit and overall most people wont connect to you if they don’t see you.
NB: You definitely look better than some tiktok influencers and you sound better too, just rock your confidence, and overall don’t try to be perfect.
e. Online Store
Proceed to create a product from your niche, could be a simple ebook and put it on a store. You can use Gumroad or Ecwid or any free payment gateway to host your product.
You can build a simple ebook with Google Docs or Canva.
Much later you can build a Shopify store but because it’s not free, I won’t recommend it for this method though it’s not a bad idea if you have some start-up capital.
f. Social Media Presence.
Lastly create some social media profiles and add links to your products on your bio.
This will be your first free traffic source.
Whoo!! You have gone through so much and your probably wondering when will the bucks flow in?
You may not realize but at this point you may have created 6 streams of income waiting to just reel in cash.
1. You have a blog you will monetize with adsence, Affiliate products, your services and your products.
2. You have an ecommerce store that you can sell your product.
3. You have a product say ebook you can sell on amazon kindle.
4. You have a service you provide or resell to make money.
5. You have a YouTube channel that will just spiral into a money machine in a few.
6. Lastly you have social media accounts that you will become an influencer and get paid for sponsored posts, while making your own money selling your products.
3. Start Promotions.
This is the point where you literally open the tap, and flood your products and services with traffic.
To do this you must master the art of content creation, “content is king” they say but how do i make good content? find inspiration from others. unless you’re a blacksmith don’t reinvent the wheel.
a Social Media marketing.
Push yourself on social media with contents, post on twitter with the trending hastags, post reels on Instagram and make tiktok videos, some of these contents can be used across multiple platforms.
i. Design posts with Canva
ii. Answer questions on quora and lead them to your pages.
iii. Ask a friend to repost.
iv. Be agressive and target a small group while expanding, little groups of 50 can become millions.
b. Paid advertising.
Run paid ads when you have started earning money.
Imagine having ads displayed on your site while you also have paid ads campaigns, you’re simple running ads for free because others pay you to display their ads and you just take their money and fund your own campaigns.
Run paid ads on Google, Facebook, Quora, Tiktok, however you will have to focus on one platform and increase as you scale.
4. Scale & Reinvest.
Congratulations on earning your first bucks online, all you have to do now is to scale your business and you can do this by.
a. adding new products,
b. upgrading your profiles,
c. increasing your ads budget
Conclusion.
Making money online is not an easy feat, you will have to learn, research, but most importantly you must persist.
