Former Coronation Street star Hayley Tamaddon has sparked a debate after blasting people for setting off fireworks in residential areas yesterday (November 5).

Mother-of-one Hayley took to Twitter to complain after her two-year-old son Jasper was left terrified by loud bangs on Bonfire Night.

Hayley, who played Andrea Beckett in the soap, says it took two hours to get her crying son to sleep.

The ‘livid’ actress received a mixed reaction after she branded those responsible as ”k***s.’

“To all the k***s setting of loud #Fireworks in their gardens in a residential area, you clearly don’t have babies or pets,” she wrote.

“And if you do you’re even more of a knob. It terrifies them! It’s taken 2 hours of Jasper crying before he’s fallen asleep. And I’m livid! LIVID!”

One Twitter user fired back: “The problem is too many people think the world revolves around them and that includes people who call others k***s for celebrating a night that has been celebrated for many many years in this country.”

And the former Dancing On Ice champion replied: “I don’t think the world revolves around me. You don’t know me at all to make that sort of comment.

“I happen to love Bonfire Night.. at a proper organised event and not having to deal with some ‘k***” setting them off outside my window and terrifying my baby.”

Another tweeter asked: “It’s one night and it happens every single year, how exactly were you caught by surprise here?”

And Hayley fired back: “I’m not surprised … but people don’t need to set them off in their gardens…they can go to an organised display somewhere surely.”

She was also asked: “You never set of fireworks In Your younger days before you had kids/pets???”

And Hayley said: “Not in my garden – no. I would go to an organised display. I’ve grown up with dogs and had a baby brother. And neighbours with kids.”

Another tweeted replied: “People are entitled to do what they want in their garden. Why should they go to big public displays esp when there’s covid around?

“It’s not all year and everyday so make adjustments.”

Other followers rushed to support Hayley.

“Fireworks should be for organised displays only. I love them but they scare the living daylights out of me when they go off randomly and it beggars belief that we allow explosives to be sold to any Tom, Dick or Harry in supermarkets and corner shops,” said one.

“I agree,” said another.

“Very selfish letting them off in residential areas!! I’m not a kill joy, nothing wrong with organised events.

“And it’s not just one night, it’s been going on all week, and it’ll go on all weekend on and off till new year.
