Garden centre improvement plans set for green light

Plans for the development of new buildings at a prominent garden centre which is a major employer in Usk have been recommended for approval.

Morris’s Of Usk is seeking permission to demolish a number of structures at its garden centre in Llanbadoc to make way for two sustainable buildings.

The proposals are intended to enhance the current accommodation at the site and make the existing family-run business more efficient.

Improvements are also lined up for access to the site while a sustainable drainage system for surface water is also proposed for the centre’s car park.

Despite objections on grounds including a concern the changes would lead to increased traffic, the application has been recommended for approval ahead of a Monmouthshire County Council planning meeting next week.

The nursery was purchased by Chris and Jane Morris in 1982.
