Garden Party: Celebrating the Brock Collection for Over The Moon Capsule

The new Brock Collection for Over The Moon capsule is a riot of flowers—and what better way to fête the budding partnership than with a garden party en plein air? Exactly this went down last weekend in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina. As daylight turned to dusk, guests strolled up the city’s most historic block to the Gibbes Museum of Art and down a walkway that revealed a hidden courtyard set for an intimate dinner.

With its European styling and stunning allée, created by live oaks with lush plantings, the botanical backdrop was perfect for eveningwear rooted in florals. There’s also a happy confidence that comes with dressing to the nines—and the twinkling mood of optimism could be felt as guests like bloggers Julia Berolzheimer and Grace Atwood, stylist turned Southern Charm fan-favorite Venita Aspen, swimwear designer to the stars Marysia Reeves, and Over The Moon founder Alexandra Macon arrived in their best Brock Collection for Over The Moon party frocks.

“The collection was a true labor of love and features many of our favorite silhouettes,” Macon said. “We chose all of the patterns and the fabrics, and dipped into the archives to bring back a dress that we’ve always wanted for our very own—and that we know our customers will, too!”

Surrounded by candlelight, Champagne, and lots of laughter, guests gleefully posed for photographer Corbin Gurkin (who, fun fact, also lensed Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’s South of France wedding.) In between passed hors d’oeuvres, waiters carried floating trays of Chandon; the signature cocktail was a Garden Spritz served in jewel-toned Champagne coupes from Estelle Colored Glass, finished with an edible flower garnish.

Brock’s signature perennials also inspired event planner Augusta Cole, who fashioned the entire evening with items from Over The Moon’s e-commerce site, including the lavish tablescape covered in linens from Istanbul-based designer Loulou La Dune. “The trompe l’oeil prints spoke to us because they had an Old World French influence that seemed fitting for Brock Collection,” Cole said. Rather than limiting the look to a placemat-and-napkin set, Cole sprung for a custom tablecloth in the same motif. “We wanted to do the whole tablescape in florals!”

During a sit-down dinner that began with crème fraîche and caviar, guests ogled and Instagrammed every detail, like Issy Granger’s wine glasses crafted by Egyptian artisans in Cairo, or Zoë de Givenchy’s hand-painted Z.d.G. dinnerware and Sabre’s flatware from France. “We have the pleasure of working with incredible vendors that are placing our table tonight,” Over The Moon Buying Director Emilie Ghilaga said in her speech. “We are very considerate in the vendors and products that we choose. We make sure there is a story behind every item so that you are buying things that you know will last for generations.”

The surprise ending came moments before dessert, when the Charlie bows from the Brock Collection for Over The Moon capsule were served on a platter, much to the delight of guests. “I love a party trick!” Cole quipped. “It’s fun to interact with the collection and play dress-up at the table.” Adding: “Now everyone has a fabulous tribute from the night to flaunt around town.”
