Girly one night a week, other than that baggy clothes eating takis. Emotionally dead but make it cute.
What’s your earliest musical memory?
My family is very musical so I’ve always kinda been around it. I remember my cousin was drumming in a band, and I thought it was like the coolest thing ever. They had a rehearsal room in the basement and walking out the door you could always hear the muffled sounds of them playing.
Who were some artists that inspired you when you were just starting out (and Why)?
Everything I ever listened to has somewhat shaped this project I think. More specifically when I started under ‘viji’ I was really into lofi indie artists like Soccer Mommy and Clairo, but mixed with a bit more of a rock/grunge sound. Hello Yellow I really loved and am still into now.
You’re from Austria, and based in the UK! What do you think of the music scenes there at the moment?
Uhh that’s a tough one. Compared to when I left, it’s got more of a vibe now. There’s plenty of cool shows happening, and a bit more of a scene. Keeping in mind though that London itself has got the same population as the whole country of Austria, the difference is still pretty significant.
Are there any other artists breaking through at the same time that you take inspiration from?
There’s so many. I’ve been loving going to shows and getting that live energy. That’s the most inspiring to me right now! Bands I’ve see recently-ish that have been so dope are Heartworms, Pretty Sick and Daisy Brain. They’re all friends of mine too and go harrrrd.
Who would be your dream collaborator?
I think Alex G would be pretty high up my list. Daft Punk if they didn’t already quit!
Musically or otherwise, what are you most looking forward to this year?
Really looking forward to live shows! I’ve been waiting to play for a long time, and this year will dominate hehe. Studio recording is going great too, and planning some trips to America to say hi.
If people could take away one thing from your music, what would it be?
Hopefully it’s something they can listen to that gives them a soundtrack. I’ve always had that relationship with music, like something you can associate phases in your life with. Main character vibes.
