The footage shows the delivery driver turn into the couple’s driveway at speed and attempt to pull up by the pristine front lawn.

As he does so, he crashes his large van into the upright lights in the middle of the front garden, knocking them over and damaging them beyond repair.

The lights gold to a nearly 45 degree angle provoking fury from the homeowners.

Amy, 34, who runs a hair salon from home, had a heated conversation with the driver which is caught on camera.

He offers some apologies, saying “sorry love” as he attempts to put the light fixtures back into the ground and get them upright without success.

One of the lights was left lying on the floor after the smash.

The couple claim that, even though he apologised, the driver found the ordeal funny and blamed it on not having driven the van before.

Project manager Jon, 38, said: “My wife was told she would be contacted by senior management today as well as myself being told I would be contacted today.

“They are a nightmare to get hold of and from the video you can see the guy thought it was funny.

“They were about £50 each but the garden cost £5000, including cementing those lights in. Now I have to buy new lights and pay for someone to dig it out and cement them back in.”

He accused the driver of being passive aggressive and said that the carless van man had asked Amy not to complain for fear of losing his job with DPD.

They pair claim DPD’s senior management told them they would be contacted soon, but say they are yet to hear back.

A statement from DPD said: “We were very sorry indeed to see the damage caused by our driver and the response, which falls a long way short of the behaviour we expect from our people.

“The local depot is carrying out a full investigation and we are already in contact with the customer to make good and repair the damage.”
