Floral designer Jeff Leatham is best known for his undeniably opulent creations for celebrity clients—including the Kardashian-Jenner family, Cher, Oprah, Madonna, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton, and even the Dalai Lama. But he recently embarked on an entirely different journey: Creating an expansive flower show for the New York Botanical Garden‘s 19th annual orchid exhibit.

Opening February 26th, The Orchid Show: Jeff Leatham’s Kaleidoscope marks Leatham’s second collaboration with NYBG, as he also designed the 2020 Orchid Show, which was “on track to be NYBG’s most popular Orchid Show yet,” per their press release, before it was cut short due to the pandemic.

This time around, the celebrated designer has transformed the historic Enid A. Haupt Conservatory into a kaleidoscope of floral creations, ranging from overhead plumes of violet orchids to undulating fields of white orchids. To bring this vision to life, Leatham worked alongside horticulturists from NYBG, including Marc Hachadourian, the Senior Curator of Orchids.

“My reinvention of Kaleidoscope will be totally different installations than two years ago,” Leatham revealed in a statement. “Every turn will display a new vision while maintaining the thematic element of every gallery focusing on a different color experience. With this design, visitors will appreciate the beauty of orchids and see NYBG’s Conservatory in exciting new ways.”
