As we pursue our dreams, discouragement always seems to lie in wait for us. It tries to bring us down by saying things like:
“You can’t do it.”
“You’re not good enough.”
“You’re too late.”
“You’re too old.”
“You’re too young.”
Last week, I allowed my mind to be idle. When my mind got idle, I defaulted to my old negative thinking.
We cannot allow our minds to be idle, even for a moment, or we’ll default to our old thinking. It’s a good thing if you think positively by default. But, I think most of us think otherwise by default.
This is not for those who are grieving or those who need to acknowledge their emotions to heal. This is for those who are going through their regular days and routines.
We must fill our days with positivity, but not the toxic kind.
We must occupy our minds with thoughts and ideas that help us grow.
Read books. Listen to podcasts. Pray. Allow God to affirm you.
We cannot leave any room for idleness. It opens the door for discouragement to come in.
