Matt Fagerson got the ball rolling for Glasgow Warriors when he burrowed over for the first of his team’s five tries as they toppled last season’s United Rugby Championship finalists, the Bulls, at Scotstoun on Saturday night. By the end of the game he was clutching the player of the match award in recognition of an all-action 80-minute performance on both sides of the ball.

Warriors’ other tries came via the winger Sebastián Cancelliere, the lock Scott Cummings, the scrum half George Horne and the full back Josh McKay. Franco Smith’s side had the bonus point by half-time, and when they went off the boil as an attacking force in the final quarter, they doubled down in defence to make sure the Bulls didn’t get
