Birmingham Dogs Home is struggling to find a family for an affectionate Boerboel who has been at the shelter for over two years.
Ten-year-old Josie is the Solihull shelter’s longest-staying resident – but staff say they can’t figure out Why no one would want her.
The lovable pooch came to the centre as a stray on New Year’s Eve 2019 after being found wandering in a local park.

She was in a terrible condition with pressure sores on her elbows and needed surgery on her back legs, which she requires ongoing medication for.
But Josie has blossomed with carers’ help and and has been looking for a loving adults-only home to live out her retirement ever since.
Staff at Birmingham Dogs Home were thrilled when someone adopted Josie last year – however she was brought back to the shelter a short time later.
Laura, one of Josie’s carers, said: “She’s been here for a very long time. She’s an older girl and we’re really hoping that we can find her a home soon so that she can have a good retirement home and live a good life.

“Because she’s an older girl and she’s on the larger size, she doesn’t need much exercise. She just needs a decent retirement home.
“She’s a good girl and we think anyone who has her would be really lucky to have her.”
Asked why Josie has struggled to find a new owner, Laura said: “I really don’t know. I think it’s partially the problems with her legs, the size of her and her age, and the maybe the fact she doesn’t like dogs. It can be off-putting for some people.
“But she’s so loving and she really just wants to be around people.
“If someone had her and took her home, she would be such a snuggle bug. She’s desperate for people to love her.”
Josie’s profile describes her as a “big girl with a lot of love to give”.
She enjoys a fuss and treats, and requires two small walks each day due to her breed.
Josie walks very well on a halti and was clicker-trained by her previous owner.
Due to Josie having a bite history, she does need a home with no children and no other dogs.
She can be worried by new people so needs a home with minimal visitors.
