Three Dublin pubs are set to lose beer garden space after a hotel group was granted permission to add a number of rooms at its O’Connell street premises.
Permission to expand the seven-storey Holiday Inn Express and add 103 rooms has been granted to JMK Group, a British Real Estate Company, on the condition that the overall height of the development is scaled down due to concerns over the impact to buildings at its rear on Parnell Street.
The Dublin city council planning authority said its daylight and sunlight assessment had concluded that the development would have an “unacceptable impact” on the residential windows of these buildings, in particular No 79 Parnell street.
The total number of rooms of the hotel will increase from 214
