An Inverness man has been given a chance to be of good behaviour after a fight with an acquaintance.
Darren Sykes (45) got into a fight with the other man in the garden of his home in Stewart Court on May 15 last year.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard neighbours could hear the two men shouting at each other.
Sykes had faced a trial for assault before admitting threatening and abusive behaviour, which was accepted by prosecutors.
The court heard the other man had come round to speak to Sykes about a debt owed.
Fiscal depute Emma Petersen said: “An argument broke out in the garden.
“The accused was heard saying ‘the boys are on their way in the car’.”
The court was told Sykes had swung a metal bar at the other man, though it failed to strike him.
Sheriff Robert Frazer deferred sentence for six month.
