A FLINTSHIRE resident whose house is severely impacted by flooding every time it rains say she has been ‘left a bag of nerves’ as the situation goes on.
Tracey, who lives on Liverpool Road, struggled to get a response from either Flintshire Council or Welsh Water regarding the floods at her property.
And now, nearly a year on, she is still searching for answers and hoping for a resolution.

When heavy rainfall takes place, the water comes into the property through the back door from the car park outside, leaving Tracey’s house needing to be dried out with fans and dehumidifiers.
The water rises above grid capacity level and trickles down into the property.
The latest incident took place on Friday, July 22, when heavy rainfall nearly caused another flood.
It was only because Tracey and her partner Richard Evans were at home and having a surprise 50th birthday party for Richard – and had some friends there to help them out – that disaster didn’t strike this time.
Tracey and Richard say they are concerned that the drainage in the area is not sufficient and that the situation is exacerbated by a carpark Flintshire Council had surfaced as the rainwater runs off it rather than draining away.
Tracey, 52, said: “I am a bag of nerves every time it rains. We have to have sandbags outside the house, and that doesn’t look good.

“It’s really frustrating – nobody seems to want to help. In this day and age, we shouldn’t have to live like this.”
Richard, who turns 50 on Wednesday, added: “We were flooded ten years ago, and then narrowly avoided it again two years ago.
“Then 11 months ago, it came in the house. That caused £2,000 worth of damage. We had insurance, but there was a £500 excess to pay.
“It was my birthday party on Friday. There was torrential rain and it’s lucky we had people over because if they weren’t there to help bail the water out, it would have flooded the house again.
“There is a private car park next to our house, which Flintshire Council [resurfaced]. I don’t know Why they do that but the water now runs off it, instead of draining.
“And it’s combined with drainage from another house running onto the car park as well. Together, it just overwhelms the drainage.

“We’re on top of a hill and there’s a river at the bottom – we should not be flooding. We have been fighting the council for 11 months over this now.
“My partner nearly had a panic attack again on Friday. For it (flooding) to nearly happen again while we’re still waiting for something to be done by the council is not good enough.
“Whenever it rains, we’re on tenterhooks. Flintshire Council put a proposition together to solve it, but Welsh Water rejected that.
“They say they are going to have to go for funding to the landowner, but they haven’t told us what this proposition is – I’m an engineer myself and I’d like to know, but we’re just totally in the dark.”
When approached for comment by the Leader, Welsh Water said the matter was a ‘council issue’.
Flintshire’s Chief Officer for Streetscene and Transportation, Katie Wilby, said: “We are aware of the issues highlighted by the resident. Our inquiries are ongoing with the utility provider to determine a permanent solution to improve the drainage infrastructure on the common land adjacent to the property.
“An officer continues to keep the resident informed at regular intervals.”
