Heavily armed and kitted out in armor, this is the tense moment SWAT teams surrounded the home of Las Vegas official Robert Telles moments before he was arrested on murder charges.
The exclusive DailyMail.com footage shows cops preparing to smash down the door of Telles’ $660,000 home on Wednesday evening.
Neighbors told DailyMail.com that police climbed over their fence to access the garden of the four-bedroom home that the 45-year-old shares with his wife Mae and their three children.
They also said two SWAT teams had been involved in the raid and that a robot was sent in first.

Police arrived at Telles’ home on Spanish Steps Lane in the western valley around 6:30am on Wednesday and blocked off nearby streets

Telles, who has since been charged with murdering reporter Jeff German, 69, was alone inside the home at the time and was later wheeled out on a stretcher after stabbing himself several times.
After being treated in hospital for ‘minor’ wounds, the ex-Clark County Public Administrator was booked into the Clark County Detention Center late on Wednesday night.
A mugshot released this morning shows him grimacing and dressed in a navy-blue prison-issue uniform.
His arms bandaged, Telles appeared briefly in court on Thursday afternoon to be arraigned on murder charges and was ordered held without bail.

Investigators with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department searched the home of Clark County public administrator Robert Telles

Authorities served search warrants at Telles home earlier in the day in connection with the fatal stabbing of Las Vegas Review-Journal investigative reporter Jeff German.

Telles was seen near German’s home on the morning of his death wearing an orange hi-visibility vest and large straw hat in an apparent attempt to disguise himself, police said

A cut-up sneaker with a ‘blood smear’ was recovered at the scene

Police also found a straw hat matching Telles’s that was ‘cut in a manner that was likely to destroy evidence’
Police said in a press conference on Thursday morning they had discovered a straw hat and a pair of shoes that matched the outfit of a suspect caught on surveillance video in German’s neighborhood around the time he was stabbed to death.
Both shoes and hat had been cut into pieces but blood was still visible on the soles of the sneakers.
Captain Dori Koren of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said: ‘As you can see, there is apparent blood on the shoes, and the shoes were cut likely in a manner to try to destroy evidence.’
He added: ‘One of the most important aspects of the investigation was waiting on the DNA results, and we received positive DNA results that showed Robert Telles’ DNA at the crime scene.’
Telles’ 2007 maroon GMC Yukon Denali SUV was also seen on camera close to investigative reporter German’s North Las Vegas home – and was photographed being towed away on Wednesday afternoon along with a gray BMW SUV.

Telles (pictured left with his wife) failed to get reelected in June after German wrote a series of stories exposing his alleged ‘inappropriate relationship’ with a member of his staff
Neighbors told DailyMail.com that Telles’ rarely drove the Yukon which was mostly driven by his wife Mae, 45.
Haunani Zanella, 72, who lives next door to Telles told DailyMail.com his arrest had come as a shock.
She said: ‘He is a good guy, a nice guy. He’s always gone out of his way to say hello to me. He was always very pleasant. It’s shocking to think he could do something like this.’
Telles, who is understood to have stabbed German seven times in the neck and torso, had railed against the reporter on social media and his own website in recent months – calling him a liar and accusing him of bullying.
The former lawyer, a Democrat, failed to win re-election in June following a series of stories written by German that exposed the turmoil in his office and claimed he had an affair with an employee.

Telles is understood to have returned to his property around 2pm and was, according to local news station 8 News Now, dressed in a hazmat suit

In an angry series of messages posted to social media, Telles accused German of rifling through his trash and writing ‘lying smear pieces’ about him.
He also had a section on his campaign website called ‘Truth’ which referred to the Las Vegas Review-Journal veteran by name and accused him of conspiring with Rita Reid – his challenger in the Democratic primary for the post of Clark County Public Administrator – to create false stories about him.
Reid, who won the June 16th election, was among those who complained of Telles’ behavior at work – and about his alleged affair with staffer Roberta Lee-Kennett, 45 – to German.
He also claimed the pair conspired with John Cahill – his predecessor in the role – and claimed the trio were attempting to ‘drag me through the mud’ for their own gain.
In an angry post on June 19 – three days after he lost the primary – Telles wrote: ‘If Rita does not win, then her position will not be vacated.

By 6pm on Wednesday, police had returned to Telles’s home in tactical gear and were surrounding the home while Telles remained inside

‘Then, the employee who wanted her position will not get it. This person wanted to work in that position for three years to obtain a much higher monthly payment in retirement.
‘For that reason, Jeff German and John Cahill may not be done trying to drag me through the mud.
‘To ensure that Democrats rally around Rita, they would have to turn most Democratic voters against me even now when I should be irrelevant. Don’t be surprised if the articles keep coming.
Through all of these articles, I have had the support of my family and friends. Despite what Jeff German and John Cahill have tried to do to me personally, I have been backed up by love and support that helped me to keep fighting for re-election. While I have lost, I still yet have that love and support.’
Telles had also embarked on a Twitter tirade the day before – accusing German of looking through his trash, making a ‘veiled threat’ against him and of bullying.
One post read: ‘Looking forward to lying smear piece #4 by @JGermanRJ #onetrickpony. I think he’s mad I haven’t crawled into a hole and died.’
A second added: ‘Typical bully. Can’t take a pound of criticism after slinging 100 pounds of BS. Up to article #4 now. You’d think he’d have better things to do.’
Telles also said he expected to be linked to the Mob and Yakuza [street gang] after leaving pizza and sushi boxes in the trash, before adding sarcastically: ‘*Wife hears rustling in the trash* Her: ‘Honey, is there a wild animal in the trash?’ Me: ‘No, dear. Looks like it’s @JGermanRJ going through our trash for his 4th story on me.’ Oh, Jeff…’

Telles’ wife Mae and alleged mistress Lee-Kennett are both yet to comment on the case but tributes have been paid to German.
In a statement made following Telles’ arrest, Las Vegas Review-Journal Executive Editor Glen Cook said he was outraged over his colleague’s death.
He wrote: ‘We are relieved Telles is in custody and outraged that a colleague appears to have been killed for reporting on an elected official.
‘Journalists can’t do the important work our communities require if they are afraid that a presentation of facts could lead to violent retribution.
‘We thank Las Vegas police for their urgency and hard work and for immediately recognizing the terrible significance of Jeff’s killing.
‘Now, hopefully, the Review-Journal, the German family and Jeff’s many friends can begin the process of honoring a great man and a brave reporter.’

Jeff German, a reported with Las Vegas Review Journal, was found stabbed to death on Saturday. German, a crime reporter, was the author of the 2001 true-crime book ‘Murder in Sin City: The Death of a Las Vegas Casino Boss,’ the story of the death of Ted Binion, heir to the Horseshoe Club fortune
