SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Friday’s 1-0 defeat to Wealdstone.
That was pretty depressing, losing at home to a part time team might be a new thing. For us to challenge anywhere near the top six next year, not sure any more than two or three of those players can be near the first team.
@Moorhouse79
Missed a pen, missed a sitter and hit the post. Goals win games. I’d be more upset if we were completely outplayed but we weren’t. Glad we’re safe. Onwards and upwards.
@Monster_721
More chances created but same as last week. Pass sideways and backwards, waste free kicks with short balls or rubbish deliveries; so often we take 20 passes and end up back where we started. Cardwell excellent in the air but no one playing near enough to him to take advantage.

Not our day
@AllAtSeaFanzine
You can have 99% possession, dominate the game, but you will never win if you don’t put your chances away. Season limping to a disappointing end.
@Tracey_SUFC
Lack of a leader at the back is costing us badly. Look like we are already on our summer holidays. Big summer transfer window needed to push on for next season.
@steeley1991
We’ve forgotten how to be score! Just four goals in our last eigh games is pathetic! Worse still we’ve also conceded 16 goals in those games too! We would have won this game by half time if we’d taken our chances. Only Arnold, Bridge, Powell & to a lesser extent Cardwell played ok.
@tommyharris57
Poor finishing/unlucky finishing cost us. Game should have been won by half time.
@Kaylalula
Really poor, final ball and cross has been woeful for a number of matches, what do we do when we train? No options on the right we can’t cross the ball. Bridge the only creative player we have. Defence shaky, midfield not strong enough, Husin poor today and as for penalties.
@MikeJon30206092
We all know that that run included most games against teams in the bottom half, we are now struggling to beat the better sides and this shows how far we are away from putting any pressure on the top sides in this league.
@YeattsMatthew
Playing like they have lost five on the bounce but not in the same way we might have done the last couple of years. No arguments, no pointing fingers, but a little bit of a lack of a leader out there and direction in general. Lack of goals most frustrating thing from the sidelines.
@piershewitt
So frustrating to dominate a game like that and end up with nothing. Only have ourselves to blame for not taking our chances. Would have replaced Powell earlier today as that wasn’t working. Too many times not enough players in the box for crosses that took too long to arrive.
@paulhewitt75
We should have been clear by half time but there wasnt a great deal of urgency from most of the players after the first 15 minutes. Thought Powell was the bright spark. At least he was trying to make things happen. Their number two was a very tidy defender with plenty of pace.
@tee19810
A bizarre season unlike any in living memory. Bad start and end with a miraculous unbeaten run in the middle to save us. Very frustrating game today with no positives.
@molyneux_dave
A game we just should not have lost. Lots of effort but no end product against a side using a lot of time wasting antics. We have to be more aggressive in our play and mix it up more often.
@SenseiPhil2
Started brightly and should have been 4-0 up at half time but yet again lacked the composure and ruthlessness infront of goal. Second half we never looked like scoring. Very slow in our build up play and we are not doing that it’s hopeless long balls forward. Roll on next season.
@KetchleyShane
Not totally sure how we lost it. But JD’s weak pen and open goal miss within the opening three mins set the tone. Even though Wealdstone carried very little threat you just knew they’d nick one. Got a wonderful sun tan from Row F in the East though.
@JimboCambo
Worst losing run of the season, gutless and disinterested. Regardless of where we’ve come from at the start of the campaign, we MUST do better and us supporters deserve better.
@ScottyBarber12
The only positive thing to take from that is seeing someone like Jack Cook for Wealdstone, the defender we are craving for right now.
@lukemayes8
If you don’t take your chances you can’t complain when you lose.
