The Queen has many luxury abodes including Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Sandringham Estate. When we see glimpses during official engagements, it is clear they are decorated to a high standard with expensive items.
However, there are also some more unusual items lurking in the royal residences…
BAFTA Award
The Oak room at Windsor Castle is where the Queen has decided to display her honorary BAFTA.
She was presented with the prestigious award in 2013 for her ongoing support of the entertainment industry. She now proudly has it on propped on the surface of one of her cabinets. It joins precious family photos and a lamp so she can have a clear look at her prize during the dark evenings.

An electric heater
The Queen clearly appreciates a good bargain, as she has a £30 electric heater. Surrounded by golden and opulent furnishings, the practical grey item stood out when the President of Estonia visited.

The thrifty matriarch is able to keep her rooms warm on a budget, and we can’t knock her for that.
ATM Machine
The royal family and their staff have exclusive access to an ATM machine within the palace, so they never have to go far for some cash.

The Royal Mail also run a post office within the building. Imagine not even having to leave the workplace to send back an ASOS parcel – dreamy.
Never-before-seen family photos
Like many proud mothers and grandmothers across the country, the Queen has some of her favourite family photos displayed around her home.

While the royals carefully choose the pictures they wish to release to the public from shoots, the Queen is able to pick her personal favourites. This includes an unreleased snap of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from their engagement shoot, and a photo of Zara Tindall at her 2011 wedding to Mike Tindall.
High street homeware
Her Majesty has picked up furniture to fill her abodes from high street favourites John Lewis and House of Fraser.
Both department stores have royal warrants, and the Queen is standing by her seal of approval by using their goods.
John Lewis also has the honour of providing haberdashery goods (items used in sewing) to the royals.
