Do I really need to time-block my time-blocking?

Try searching “productivity” on YouTube, Google, Medium, or even Pinterest and you’ll be met with an overdose of tricks and hacks.

There are some great hidden gems out there but let me just go ahead and save you the burden of actually reading all of it. Usually, the results can be boiled down to these three points:

  • keep a calendar or schedule where you time-block everything
  • wake up early
  • keep distractions to a minimum

Maybe I’m an anomaly but time-blocking my day would only require me to time-block my time-blocking. It would take away time from actually doing something useful.

Preparation is great and all, but nothing beats actually getting some shit done.

So, instead of attempting to hack my way to productivity, I’ve found something that works way better; to not plan my productivity but instead just be productive.

“Wow, great, insightful… easier said than done… so what do I do if I’m just not feeling very productive?”

Great question, I’ll answer you right away!

Just do it. There is no secret sauce to completing your to-do list.

The only one who can complete your list is you, and the only way it can be completed is if you do it.

Sure, sometimes you might feel unmotivated and that’s okay. But it doesn’t change the fact that you still have to get the shit done.

Excuses are in unlimited supply, so don’t pretend like your excuse is any more valid than anyone else’s.

It’s simple; only you can do it and no one else will do it for you.

So get to it!
