What is NoFap?. Now you look at yourself, you look at… | by Infinitum | Mar, 2022

What is NoFap? NoFap, commonly popularized by the NoNutNovember challenge, is a practice where a person is to refrain from three things: Porn, Masturbation, and Orgasm, also known as PMO. The main goal of NoFap is to stop porn addiction and the supposed benefits from withholding your seed within your pants. By cutting out PMO from your life, you give more space to be able to focus on other things, such as self-improvement, and getting your life back together. The NoFap 90 day challenge is one way to recover from Porn addiction, which is super prevalent in our society as of now. Most people stumble upon Porn when they are young, just by that alone, you can already imagine the consequences it has on a teenager’s brain. You get hooked to it like a monkey. Fast forward ten years later you look like this:

Now you look at yourself, you look at your hand, oh how much torture this hand has gone through, your muscle mass is now all shifted to one side of your body. You stare into your reflection, and think to yourself ‘’Am I proud of what I have become?’’. You feel nothing but emptiness inside, all the empty loads you have released over the years, all the babies you have killed, all that potential, wasted! That’s it, you have made a decision. Enough is enough!

Right off the bat, we have to talk about Porn addiction. Most people will deny porn as being harmful or addictive. Both of those assumptions are wrong. Porn is supposed to be banned, at least for people under ‘’18’’ which we all know is nothing against a teen with an anime profile picture who is 123 years old apparently. In today’s society and today’s world, Porn is seen as a normal thing, and that’s the problem, this ‘’PMO’’ thing has been normalized. Maybe you can say ‘’masturbation’’ is a normal thing, after all, even monkeys do it, right? Even your old old grand-grandpa did the deed once in a while, ok sure we can say that,(although my opinion doesn’t support this). See, naturally, in a natural environment that was not enhanced by human beings, it would be almost impossibly rare to find 10/10 naked girls just lying around waiting for you to ejaculate on them. And if that did happen, your brain would get rewarded accordingly by releasing pleasure. But now, you have the brand new technology of ‘’porn’’ where you can watch two primates have sexual intercourse with each other while you beat your meat behind the bush. WOW! Such a revolutionary thing for a human being to evolve into! This is very worthy of spending the rest of my miserable life on! Your brain gets fooled, of course, we are such fools after all, and when the brain sees two people fucking with each other, it thinks YOU are the one reproducing. Thus serving humanity, thus increasing the survival of the species! BUT, that’s not what’s happening! What is happening is a teenage boy who has been living in his mother’s basement playing League of Legends since preschool, is beating his meat to pixels on a screen, that have no emotions and have no way of reproduction. All that potential, wasted! See, our brain then gets hooked on that, because now not only do you get to see naked women for free, you get to see hundreds of them in a mere second, and you also get to choose the best one! Sounds like a good idea? No, you would be deluded to think this was what was going on. See, what happens is that you get addicted to these supernormal stimuli, and then over time, you get desensitized to that pleasure, then like a drug you need more of it to feel any sort of effect. This is the slippery slope of the downward spiral into Coomer mode. Eventually, all of life will feel bland to you, the only thing you will feel is eternal depression. Girls in real life don’t even do it anymore. You feel no attraction or real affection to any girl, you only see them as objects and tools for sexual validation, nothing more, nothing less. You slowly begin to lose what made you human and begin to transform into a sort of transfigured creature that resembles a sloth. At some point, you either hit total rock bottom, or you find out about how Porn addiction is a real thing and that you need to quit watching porn. Suddenly, a glimmer of hope is found! Is there a way I can return to the peak performance that I once used to operate on? Is there hope for recovery? And, the NoFap journey begins!

See we all make mistakes in life, and we all have regrets, we all ultimately wish that we didn’t start PMOing. But stuff happens sometimes, and that is ok, now we can rise to our feet again, and as NoFap warriors, keep marching forward! So, let’s start explaining NoFap by first explaining the rules and making them crystal clear. 1# No Porn. Means no pornography of any kind, this includes all porn sites, Instagram models, light porn, hentai, fantasizing, anything that has a sexual undertone to it is not allowed. 2# No masturbation. Means no touching your penis in any way, no edging, no nothing at all, you are not allowed to touch your penis, got it? And finally. 3# No orgasm. This includes sex as well, none is allowed. Some people decide to do this for religious purposes, some think that they will get more attention from girls if they do NoFap. The reason Why you do NoFap is ultimately up to you. You will however get some benefits if you decide to do NoFap. The challenge is held for 90 days. There are also three difficulties you can choose from Easy, Hard, and Monk Mode. Easy mode is not even worth it so I am just going to throw that in the trash for now. Hard mode is the standard rule I mentioned earlier with the challenge being to not PMO for 90 days. It’s also recommended that you track your streak. Monk Mode, on the other hand, is no social media, no junk food, not even thinking about women, it’s the most extreme version, you live like a monk. I am not going to cover that here, let’s just focus on the standard Hard Mode version, that’s the one I recommend. The first thing you got to do, the first thing ever, is to block porn from your devices. Yes, if you are going to start the challenge, or are already doing it, make sure you have a porn blocker installed, this would prevent you from accidentally relapsing and stumbling upon porn. The reason one should do this is that, well, porn is one click away, even searching for something innocent on google images can lead to randomly showing up porn. One I recommend is BlockerX, this is the one I use, you can use whichever one you want to. Now that that’s out the way, lets’ start getting into some NoFap terminology, and some tips and tricks.

This usually means when you failed in your challenge and have PMOed, it happens to all of us in the journey, so we have to support other comrades when this happens. It is believed that the benefits ‘’reset’’ once this happens. This experience is usually followed by feelings of shame, guilt, and defeat, which are normally expected. Resetting the streak and going back at it starting from day 1 again is the next step. You can also experience what is known as ‘’Snowballing’’, this happens when you relapse far too many times for far too many days and essentially return to ground zero, totally rock bottom.

An ‘’urge’’ is characterized by feeling horny and also feeling like PMOing. This is the critical point in your NoFap streak, most people relapse whenever an ‘’urge’’ happens to them. Learning how to deal with ‘’urges’’ is one big part of having a successful NoFap journey.

Half of the goal of NoFap is to avoid what is known as ‘’triggers’’, essentially, a trigger is an explicit piece of content, that when viewed, makes you want to PMO. Social media is one big place where you can find triggers of different kinds.

This is when you start masturbating but never release therefore you kept your semen intact. Some people do not consider this a relapse, especially those who practice Semen Retention and not NoFap. However, I think this is considered a full relapse because you’re still getting pleasure from this as well, and you are still addicted to PMOing.

A term I have seen get used by Mark Queppet, basically means that you’re going on the internet and other pages fishing for sexual content meanwhile not directly going to any actual porn website. This is a common trap most beginners fall into, they browse social media and other stuff and come across triggers, then relapse to them, without ever going to a porn website

This stands for the NoNutNovember challenge which happens every year. The goal is to stay clean for 30 days for the whole month of November until December comes around, however, this does not address the whole porn addiction issue.4

Doing a quick google search shows that these are the apparent ‘’benefits’’ or superpowers of NoFap.

Mental benefits:

· Increased happiness.

· boosted confidence.

· increased motivation and willpower.

· lower levels of stress and anxiety.

· heightened spirituality.

· self-acceptance.

· improved attitude and appreciation toward the opposite sex.

Physical benefits:

  • higher energy levels
  • muscle growth
  • better sleep
  • improved focus and concentration
  • better physical performance and stamina
  • improved or cured erectile dysfunction
  • improved sperm quality

As for my thoughts on this, I think the reason to do NoFap, at least in my own opinion, the reason why I do it, is because you have all this energy within you that you are effective ‘’wasting’’ by PMOing. By doing NoFap, all that energy now is available to you and you can use it in other areas of your life like for example having success with women, maybe in being able to work better, or hitting the gym, all of that is up to you! Also, I love the community around NoFap. Porn addiction is a real thing and we have to spread more awareness of it.

Now I am going to express my own opinion about NoFap and how one should approach it. First of all, I think it is a subjective experience and it works differently for everyone. After some trial and error, you might find the best approach for you. I would recommend for people try and do the 90-day challenge first and foremost. If you are severely addicted and can’t control your behavior at all, then you can seek help. Most psychologists and therapists will probably not see ‘’porn addiction’’ as a real problem and they might just ignore it. I recommend that if you have a lot of problems with porn addiction and such things, you ask for help either through a professional or from the community. Anyways, I also don’t like counting streaks as I think there is a chance for your streak to fail at any time. This is a personal idea of mine, as I for once always end up feeling guilty after losing a long streak. And I also say, don’t aim for perfection, instead what I think we should aim for is to keep a high percentage of success. I got this concept from Improvement Pill, essentially you aim for having a high percentage of success rather than a perfect streak. That means that if you relapse your percentage might decrease but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have failed. That is another way of approaching NoFap if you prefer it in that way. Anyways, you can check out the video by Improvement Pill, I am going to leave a link here. That’s about it, take care!
