Over COVID there were a few things we realized. Out of the number of trending topics, these were the ones that resonated most: The luxury of dining out, being lonely is actually sad and affects our mental health, and lockdown is getting us really, really fat.

COVID -19 wasn’t the only pandemic these past few years. Now we’re facing the pandemic of obesity. In the relentless battle of Weight loss we come across the topic of fat cells.

I recall someone blaming their body weight on “fat cells”

For so long I’ve been hearing about these fat cells and got curious and curiouser

Not too long ago, my girlfriend told me she hates smoking weed because it makes her start googling shit

*hits blunt*

Just kidding, I don’t smoke weed because it turns me into someone who applied themselves to a profession food eating contest.

So first things first:

Q: Can you get rid of fat cells?

A: “According to scientists, fat cells never really disappear. When someone starts losing weight, the size of the fat cells decreases or shrinks. They do not ‘burn’ away as some people mistakenly believe.”

Q: What alternative methods can reduce body fat besides beating a dead horse with workouts?

A: Remember that abs are made in the kitchen. While going to the gym and consistently exercising can decrease your body fat percentage, the aid of supplemental probiotics can give you a boost in metabolism.

Q: What does metabolism play in a role to fat loss?

A: Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy.

Simply put, metabolism won’t lead directly to weight loss.

However, it’s pretty f*cking hard to not order those fries on the menu.

Q: How does probiotics come into play with fat loss?

“Modulation of gut microbiota by probiotic strains containing Lactobacillus rhamnosus can have beneficial effects on body weight, glucose and fat metabolism, insulin sensitivity and chronic systemic inflammation.”

If you’re looking for a probiotic that contains Lactobacillus rhamnosus, here’s a probiotic targeting weight loss

When it comes to weight loss, looks for these Keywords: microbiota, inflammation, adiposity, lactobacillus, bifidobacterium.

Q: Have probiotics been proven to reduce body fat through human clinical trials?

A: Yes

Study 1

“In a recent experiment, Gomes et al. administered L. acidophilus, L. casei, L. lactis, B. bifidum, and B. lactis to overweight and obese women on a dietary intervention for 8 weeks.

Overall, supplementation with the probiotic mixture resulted in reduced abdominal adiposity, and increased antioxidant activity.

Additionally, the dietary intervention plus probiotic supplementation produced a significant reduction in waist circumference, and plasma polyunsaturated fatty acids [1].

Study 2

These results are consistent with a 2018 study demonstrating beneficial effects of administering multispecies probiotics from the genus Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus [2].

In this study involving 81 obese postmenopausal women, the probiotic mixture at both low and high doses positively modified glucose metabolism, lipid profile, waist circumference, visceral fat, serum uric acid levels, and LPS concentration. Additionally, serum total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL cholesterol, glucose, insulin, and insulin resistance index were improved in the high dose group. Both groups had significant differences in fat percentage and visceral fat. Taken together these studies show that although some combination on Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria probiotic strains may be more effective than others.

Q: Which probiotics should I invest my time and money into?

A: It’s important to look out for these key factors:

  1. Multiple strain count
  2. Higher than 50 Billion CFU count (Ohbiotics probiotics contains 67 Billion CFU count with 20 accredited third party lab tested strains per capsule)
  3. Quality of capsule in order to survive harsh stomach acid conditions when ingested (Ohbiotics probiotics contains 2 capsules in 1 engineered enteric acid and oxygen resistant capsules)
  4. Added prebiotics (prebiotics are necessary for probiotics to grow and procreate inside of your microbiome which contains trillions of good and bad bacteria) Ohbiotics probiotics contains 3 kinds of targeted prebiotics that help strengthen your probiotic cells.

In conclusion, it is clear that we cannot get rid of fat cells. However, it is possible to reduce body fat with the supplementation of probiotics.
