Morning Brew Accelerator’s Pitch — An 8-week virtual program designed to level up professionals in the core competencies required of a modern business leader. 🎯
My expectations coming in:
- Join a group of outstanding professionals
- Learn from the remarkable group of Morning Brew family of educators
- Take the next step in my professional development
There are one or two speakers per week.
You are placed in two different peer groups during the duration of the cohort.
Decision Dossier groups are the Morning Brew version of case studies: hyper-relevant companies/scenarios, engaging insights and questions, and a practical & fun deliverable your team will create based upon the DD deck.
There is content provided for the Decision Dossier. Very high-quality content, written brilliantly by the Morning Brew team. 🔥
Unit 1 was all about Communication. Applicably so, since it is the one thing we all need to do outside of breathing and eating! It is broken down as –
- Part 1: Mastering the storytelling Basics.
- Part 2: Communicate Like a Boss.
- Part 3: Create Brand Storytelling.
Besides being masterfully written, each section is riddled with beautiful links and articles to show real-world examples or practical learnings. I joined the cohort because of how wonderfully they write, and they do not disappoint in delivering an extremely high signal-to-noise ratio.
They provide excellent background while still making each of the educational parts feel quick and light. Unlike doing a homework assignment or just finding a video about it online, finding the key insights can be time-consuming and wasteful. Diving into their learnings, I found myself coming up with lightbulb moments in every section. The curation and delivery are second to none.
Board Meetings are the other peer group you join during the cohort. They are a place where you can discuss similar professional challenges with people who have shared experiences as you. The topics are provided and structured to promote group conversations. This is one of the favorites of past cohorts.
Much of the experience of this accelerator is based on what you give to it. Most of it is entirely self-guided and up to you to make the most of it. The people are remarkable, and the learning opportunities are everywhere, but it is not given to you on a silver platter. Circle is the platform they use for communication, and it is easy to get lost or not stay up to date on everything. A lot of the DMs and communications are on you to maximize.
At the halfway point in the program, I would definitely do it again, but I would have changed my approach. I believe I was a bit too passive at the beginning of the cohort, so moving forward, I will make the extra effort to reach out when someone posts something interesting and connect with them moving forward. The content understanding has been an area that I would not change, and I think it’s going pretty well.
Stay tuned for my full review after the full eight weeks! I have some changes to make, and I will let you know if the time and energy are worth the price tag. I am excited for what is to come. 🚀
