We all know that when we eat more carbs than fats, our body uses them as their primary energy source.
This is Why switching focus and eating a low-carb diet will cause the opposite…
meaning, it will make your body use fat as its energy source.
So what does this mean?
Well, if you think that the answer is to just cut carbs right away and you’ll lose fat, then think again.
Here’s why.
While what I’ve said is 100% true, this change in energy source only affects the fat oxidation portion.
Like with protein, fats also have net fat deposition and oxidation.
So what matters is the total component.
Meaning, it doesn’t matter if you are burning more fat if you’re also storing more of it (which is what happens when someone eats a low-carb high-fat diet).
The point is…
There isn’t a magical ratio of carbs and fats that will magically make you lose fat.
Fat loss is using the stored energy from fat into energy.
For that, it doesn’t need to have a magic ratio to do it… it can happen when you have carbs in your diet just as with fats.
What matters is that you have the building block of all diets in place.
There might be some exceptions in which someone needs a specific ratio, but those situations are less frequent than we think.
So don’t think you need to cut carbs to lose fat — let alone, is the only way to do it.
You can lose fat while enjoying pasta, ice cream, or any other carb.
The only thing is you need to know how to do it.
