RNAS Yeovilton service personnel visit Barchester’s Trinity Manor care home
Submitted by Barchester
Staff and residents at a care home in Sherborne, Dorset received a visit from RNAS Yeovilton service personnel as they commemorated Armistice Day on Thursday, November 11.
The residents from Barchester’s Trinity Manor care home were delighted to meet four service men and women from The Wildcat Maritime Force Headquarters and discuss their roles within the Navy.
The visitors, staff, and residents all paused for the national two minute’s silence at 11am in respect of the sacrifices made by so many during the First World War. Many of the residents have relatives who have served in the armed forces, or in fact, have served themselves.
Residents were also treated by the service personnel to a poppy-covered cake.
Chief petty officer, Stuart McAllister said: “It has been a real pleasure to come and meet some of the residents here at Trinity Manor and I have enjoyed being put through my paces with their questions – it’s been a nice change from the day job.”
General manager, Sohail Daniel, added: “What an honour to welcome everyone here today, we really are so very grateful that they were able to join us for such an important occasion in all service personnel’s calendars and what an amazing cake they brought to share. On behalf of Trinity Manor, thank you all so very much for being with us.’
